EON is an International network of independent artists, programmers and cultural organizations, created to support the development of the independent sector.
Its primary aims are to facilitate inter-cultural dialogue, provide opportunities to share professional practice, and to improve the conditions for collaborative work and exchange for independent companies and performing artists. The group achieves this through social and professional networking, peer support, sharing of information, collaboration and advocacy.
EON acts as a platform for discussion, allowing artists to explore common issues and methodologies, in order to better engage with peers, audiences, local, regional, national, and international government, development agencies, funders and the media as a distinct cultural sector.
The group has held two major conferences since its foundation in 2005. The inaugural event was held in St Pölten/ Austria, and the most recent in Brescia/ Italy as part of the Ikos festival of contemporary performance. There have also been additional planning and sharing events in other European countries.
Membership is free of charge and available to independent artists, companies, and representative organizations.
